The Red Velvet Curtain Cult offers a platform to artists to experiment and collaborate within a supportive group of like minded creative types. We embrace work that is playful, macabre, surreal, ridiculous, absurd, beautiful, un-nerving, misaligned and unusual to create theatrical evenings that immerse the viewer in an interactive experience. The events are a blend of many different media & formats with performances, installations, music, 2D and 3D work, ephemera, happenings and lurkings.
We have had many artists, musicians, performers and characters grace our evenings including music from The Surgens, The Crisps, Greta Lang, The Teeth, Satans Cock & our resident DJ Sy Hackney, to name but a few. We are privileged to work with so many wonderful artists including Brian Dawn Chalkley, Jack Catling, Lois of the Lane, Alexandra Santos, Alexa Reid, Rebecca Chitty, Michelle Fletcher, Jenny & Holly, Carronicus, Folie a Trois, Emma Roberston, Camilla Fiori, Giselle Benavides, Alice Peillon and many more.
The Red Velvet Curtain Cult was initiated by artist lili Spain in 2006 post working as a production designer/ curator in avant garde theatre. She was joined later by Sarah Grainger-Jones after completion of her MA at Chelsea College of Art. lili and Sarah are the co-curators of R.V.C.C
