"A night of talent, untimely laughs, foul language, fireplaces, catching pigeons, arm wrestling, tights, a well-dressed man and his christmas bows, a santa candle, a young 'confused' 'man' playing the piano smoking cigars, cigarettes, alcohol, foreign languages and free whiskey shots?" 'Bethnal Green Working Mens Club'  host and produce a wide variety of events. From high-brow arty farty stuff to wild, unhinged live music nights and good old, above standard, live entertainment treats, including little old us on the 19th June 2008. '491 Gallery' is an evolving Arts Piece, a meta-conceptual living room, a pirate utopia reclaiming neglected land and property and giving something back to the community with a healthy balance of art, regeneration, education, performance, gardening, and diversity of life. 'Treadwell's' is a fabulous bookshop which specialises in cultural history and esoteric belief where they follow the traditions of old-fashioned bookselling - a warm welcome for book lovers, hourly rounds of tea, friendly conversation, and regular events.
